Finding freeness
on the road

I’m Ben, a 30-something Frenchman driving the World in two 30-something VW buses I turned into my DIY tiny homes. In 2018, I left a decade of comfortable corporate positions behind me to travel full-time.
I caught the travel bug early on, having being raised abroad and lived two thirds of my life outside my home country. Before taking that leap, I had visited over 60 countries, backpacked all of South America, hitchhiked and traveled by train, bus and boat in Europe, West Africa and Asia. I even ran a marathon in North Korea.
I don’t believe in absolute freedom - if it was a thing, we’d all have wings and fly. We are all responsible for something, somewhere between building better selves, paying taxes and contributing to a better world. Freeness, though, is the state of being free, unconstrained, unobstructed. It’s the condition of being independent, open-minded and always keeping options open. This is what I strive for: the freedom to be who I want to be, to live without regrets.
Even though it didn’t happen by luck, I consider myself fortunate to do what I’m doing. I’m hoping that by maintaining an account of what it’s like to choose experiences over comfort, I might inspire people to break away from a linear life, through meaningful travel experiences.
The road connects people and places. I choose to enjoy the journey over obsessing over the destination. I choose the path less traveled, where timelessness is omnipresent. I seek the roadside encounters and the unexpected adventures.
Life is short and the world is big. I intend to make the best of both.
